A different woman every episode, and one thing she can tell you the whole of: a ring, a house, a friendship, a café, a pupil, a garden.
And every one of them tells it backward. The parts are years, running down — two thousand nineteen, two thousand three, nineteen seventy-nine, nineteen sixty-one — and each part explains something the part before it left hanging, so the story gets clearer as it goes further back. The last part is the beginning, and by the time you get there you know what everything in it is going to cost and what it is going to be worth.
Nothing carries over between episodes except the form, and the last line, which is always the same.
